About
Who we are
DARTEF is a family-run project with a simple goal: to show students how the math and science they learn in school is actually used in real jobs.
We create short, animated videos that bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace. We show that math and science are not just for exams. They are vital tools used by real professionals every day.
Our Difference: Real Use, Not Fake Problems
Many resources claim to show “real-world” math. But too often, they use made-up stories like “Farmer Albert” counting animal legs. These are puzzles, not examples of professional work.
This gives students the wrong idea. It makes them think math is just a brain exercise, with no connection to their future.
DARTEF is different. We only show genuine use cases. Each video is a carefully researched story about how a professional uses math or science to solve a real problem.
For example:
How an architect uses trigonometry to design sun protection for a building.
How a doctor uses vectors to detect a heart attack.
We replace the “fake” with their future.
Our Foundation
Our method is based on proven cognitive science. We build on the work of experts like F. Reif, J. Piaget, and L. Vygotsky to understand how students learn and form concepts. Our goal is to effectively connect new scientific ideas to what students already know.
Recognition
In 2020, DARTEF was selected for the IMPACT EdTech incubator program, where we received the “Best-in-Class” award.
We have also worked with the Centre of Mathematics Education at the University of Tartu to test and refine our methods in real classrooms.
